You Have a Business Idea, and So What?

When I receive the usual emails or calls from readers telling me that they have a ‘wow’ business idea, mostimes,I feel that the appropriate response I should give to them is “and so what?” but the infectious joy expressed in these emails/calls get to me so I indulge my readers who author this kind of emails.

Indulge, because I have addressed and provided appropriate answers to most of these follow up enquiries in my book, “1000+ Practical Business Ideas and Directory of Money Sources” and I expect them to have read it in my book but ‘to satisfy all righteousness’,I will go over some of the main points that address some of the concerns expressed in these emails and phone calls once again.

Ideas are not tangible so seeking my help on getting buyers for your ‘ raw’ business idea is not cool and definitely not the first place to start when you are thinking of commercialising your business idea. Once again, I remind you to capture your business idea in a tangible medium and obtain a copyright protection against unauthorized use of the idea in the exact form your idea is expressed in the tangible medium.

Ideas are not exclusively given to you by the universe and it’s important that you are fully aware that the day you ‘had your revelation’, countless others had the idea revealed to them as well so the work had been finished in the creative boxes of other humans like you. In most countries, the registered name of the business is the first that must obtain a trademark before you are permitted to acquire trademark(s) for your individual products. For example, my company identity in name and logo was the first to obtain a registered trademark (Biz Lifelines®) before our products (e.g Famz®) got its registered trademark.

So if your business idea would be owned officially for your use or transfer to another party, it’s better to first register a company, use the company as a vehicle to acquire the copyright for the exact manner your idea is expressed in a tangible medium before acquiring a trademark for your company identity and the products created from your “wow” idea.

Who Do You Give Charge Over Your Business Vision?

Frankly, the question that forms the title of this write-up is a matter of life and death.

Death because,in the event you make a terrible choice on the principal person(s) that executes your vision, your business vision will die ; and life because , a sound decision in this area of your vision will deliver great results which will give life to your vision and sustain it.

I have identified three key units that have to work in harmony to birth and sustain your business vision. Like the manner “heart and lungs” work effectively to deliver “more oxygen to the working muscle cells of a fit person”, is the same way these three units must deliver what is required for your business to boost it to overcome the challenges in its way of achieving survival and profitability.

The vision itself, should not be confused for the vision carrier or with the dream team which altogether form “the Trinity of business”.

While the vision could come from any of the business ideas in my book “1000+ Practical Business Ideas and Directory of Money Sources” and be abstract, the original vision-carrier is tangible but his survival in relation to the vision are tied. The vision he carries at the start is the chain that binds him to the dream team.

Once vision is destroyed, the connection between the vision-carrier and the dream team becomes dead and gone.

I once witnessed this in the life of a business and I will share the experience with you.

Some years ago,a leading entrepreneur, decided to set up another company to take advantage of a new opportunity in his line of business, according to him,”I wanted to pioneer a unit that will focus solely on taking advantage of the opportunity the internet created in my business sector” and so he did. He assembled a team and shared his vision with his dream team,they hit the ground running. On investigation,it was found that the successor who met a well run company on ground, felt the company was already doing well and decided to turn his weekends to travel time to Europe to bring in cars for resale in his home country. His focus and attention,as the company leader, shifted from the original vision of the original vision-carrier to a different vision that is completely unrelated to the vision that binds the vision-carrier to his dream team and the result led to the death of the fledging company.

One of my businesses nearly suffered the same fate until we identified and removed a principal member of our dream team whose daily priority activities are not aligned with our business vision and we suddenly arrested the ‘bleeding’ in the organisation

Who Is The Real Beast: Elon Musk or The Herdsmen?

In a week the media treated us to appalling news about the herdsmen in Nigeria and India, Elon Musk sealed his place amongst the all-time greats, sorry beasts.

In India, according to Al-Jazeera in its documentary titled ‘Partition of Blood’, it is ‘herdsmen’ allegedly targeting and killing Muslims who buy cow for slaughtering, hiding under their Hindu religion that reverence cows to attack their fellow citizens while in Nigeria, it is ‘herdsmen’ going on reprisal killings against people who allegedly kill/steal or aided and abetted the killing of their cows, hiding under the Fulani tradition that equates the lives of cow to the lives of humans to kill their fellow citizens, In the US, Elon Musk was killing the fear of the unknown with amazing tenacity.

For the flamboyant billionaire Elon Musk, it is an outlandish, awkward yet brilliant “silly and funny” race against the future to make space travel to planet Mars cheaper in a beast mode.

With monstrous roar of engines, the most powerful rocket to leave planet earth, Falcon Heavy Jumbo rocket developed by Elon Musk, launched successfully on Tuesday, 06 February, with a sole ‘passenger’ on board, a mannequin named ‘Starman’, who rode to space inside Elon’s Tesla roadster.

Elon admitted that ‘Starman’ will travel further than Mars because SpaceX overcooked one of the Falcon Heavy’s powerful booster burns leaving the world to wonder, how did Elon Musk know so much!

From PayPal to Tesla to SpaceX and many of Elon’s ambitious innovative businesses, he has maintained that his target is to learn faster than an average entrepreneur and any of his competitors.

Elon is a beast… plain and simple and I agree that he is.

I remember seeing one of his videos on YouTube where he explained how he does it and his reasoning is legit and very sound.

Elon, how do you accomplish so much so fast?
